My ideas for Battlefield 2042

[ Edited ]
★ Guide

I'm really having high hopes for this new Battlefield game and I feel like it has some real potential to becoming one of the best Battlefield games yet.

I have been playing Battlefield since I was a little guy, my first game being Bad Company 2 in early 2011 on my cousin's PC. So, needless to say, this franchise means something to me and I would really like for the upcoming Battlefield players to have the best gaming experience ever. So here are my ideas:

1. Bringing old maps

- Both Battlefield 3 and 4 have done this with old maps. Battlefield 3 did this with its DLC 'Back to Karkand', bringing old maps from Battlefield 2 and reimagining them in Frostbite 2. A few years later, Battlefield 4 did the same thing with 'Second Assault' and 'Legacy Operations', bringing some maps from Battlefield 3 maps and some from 2 as well.

So just imagine, that some maps that are like 16 years later, get the upgrade to the latest Frostbite engine. I highly believe that old Battlefield veterans will find this feature really cool.

2. Bringing back Scavenger

- To be quite frank, this mode is one of my favorites in the whole franchise, and it's sad that after Battlefield 3 we didn't see it anymore. For those that don't know, Scavenger was a game mode that came with the 'Aftermath' DLC. It's pretty much like Conquest but on steroids. Players start equipped with only a knife, one grenade, and a sidearm with four magazines, and must search the map for more powerful weapons to increase their chance at survival.

3. Dog tag competition

- Back in the early stages of Battlefield 4, DICE held an event where players got to make their own dog tags. The best ones got to stay in the game. I think it would be pretty cool to see something like that again.

4. Day changing to Night

- As far as I know, this has never been done in Battlefield, like ever. But I think, thanks to the new version of Frostbite, maps will be able to change sky as the match goes by. For example. If the match starts at like sunset, over time, the map will slowly turn to night.

5. Cool Easter Eggs

- Battlefield always had easter eggs, and I think that Battlefield 2042 should be no exception. Maybe EA should make another forum that focuses on easter egg and upcoming releases.

6. Map editor

- Many games have the option for the players to make maps of their own and submit their work on different websites and maybe, those maps will get added. For example, most Counter-Strike maps that are still in the current version have been made by the community. Maybe this feature could bring the developers and players closer together. Not only will people be able to express their imagination through making maps.

Even if the maps that users made haven't been accepted into the game, could be in like workshop or something like that, where users can download them and play them on their own. Or have servers dedicated to just play user made maps.

7. CO-OP Missions

- This isn't something that Battlefield is really known for. I believe only Battlefield 3 had this feature, but it would be a great addition to the game.

8. Range Finder

- Range Finder was first added in Battlefield 4. Now, I won't go in too much detail about it and how to use it, I'm going to make a video about it on my YouTube soon though for anyone who doesn't know how to use it. It helped me with hitting some awesome shots and i think that adding it in this Battlefield, which is already in a near future setting.

9. Faster killing time

- The thing that I see with these newer Battlefield versions (excluding BFV), the killing time increased. For example, I have that feeling that when I play Battlefield 3 for example, I get kills a lot quicker and easier than in Battlefield 4, Hardline, 1, etc...

While some people may find this better, I personally don't. Of course this is my opinion and not everyone is going to agree with me, but I hope DICE will do something about it.

10. Faster resupply time

- The difference for resupply time between Battlefield 3 and 4 is significant. What would only take about 20 seconds to replenish your C4 to the max in BF3, it would take almost triple of that in BF4. Now of course people are going to have mixed opinions about this, but I personally enjoyed the faster resupply time in Battlefield 3. I mean I don't want to sit next to an ammo box for 3 minutes just to get my grenade back.

--------------

Note: Over time, I will edit my post, adding new ideas and suggestions. Until then, I hope you guys have a wonderful day and stay safe.

Agree.

I have somehow the feeling this "hazard zone" mod could be some sort of reimagination of "Scavenger".

3. Dog tag competition

- Back in the early stages of Battlefield 4, DICE held an event where players got to make their own dog tags. The best ones got to stay in the game. I think it would be pretty cool to see something like that again.

I disagree, while it would a nice community Event, I still think it needs a lot of Resources to implement this things (first you need someone to suggest this, then it needs approval, then you needs some who is picking up the best, then you needs some who translate it to the engine, then you needs some who give an approval for this again).

4. Day changing to Night

- As far as I know, this has never been done in Battlefield, like ever. But I think, thanks to the new version of Frostbite, maps will be able to change sky as the match goes by. For example. If the match starts at like sunset, over time, the map will slowly turn to night.

I agree and disagree at the same time. We need "different" times of Maps, but it should not rush a "day" while you play on a map, in this type it would be more useful when the "Tornado, sandstorm, blizzard" and such things are come and change the "biome" .
So we have One map but with 4 or 5 different times... like Dawn, Daytime, Dusk, Night and so on.

5. Cool Easter Eggs

- Battlefield always had easter eggs, and I think that Battlefield 2042 should be no exception. Maybe EA should make another forum that focuses on easter egg and upcoming releases.

Williams scream, dancing crabs, a Yeti, a Sandworm ala Dune... yeah I hope also for Easter Eggs and agree.

6. Map editor

- Many games have the option for the players to make maps of their own and submit their work on different websites and maybe, those maps will get added. For example, most Counter-Strike maps that are still in the current version have been made by the community. Maybe this feature could bring the developers and players closer together. I would like to see this, it should be also available on Console but sadly this will not gonna happens. I would like to see in a future installment a Map Editor what FarCry 5 (and maybe FarCry 6 does?) did, where you can create one map on one platform, but it will also works on all different platforms aswell. But for Battlefield 2042 it is probably to late for such a feature, because something like this needs proper planning and proper preparation to work very well and also to be crafted. It is maybe also a huge "Resource" taker aswell (coding, legal department, costs).

7. CO-OP Missions

- This isn't something that Battlefield is really known for. I believe only Battlefield 3 had this feature, but it would be a great addition to the game.

Well Battlefield V had also the "Combined Arms" mode, which was a "Co-Op" experience... but it wasn't very fun at least for me.

8. Range Finder

- Range Finder was first added in Battlefield 4. Now, I won't go in too much detail about it and how to use it, I'm going to make a video about it on my YouTube soon though for anyone who doesn't know how to use it. We had something similiar on Battlefield 1 with the trench perisscope and on Battlefield V with the spotting scope. I would like to have in general a "bincolur".
On Battlfield V we also had the option to set a "Ping" which tells you the difference in "meter" from your position.

★★ Guide

You've got some great ideas there. Thank you for putting time into writing them.

Personally, I would not want to see the Scavenger mode and Faster killing time. Scavenger, because I don't like that play style (nothing wrong with it, sounds super cool and thrilling but not my cup of tea) and Faster killing time - because of the challenge. I don't want some random dude to shoot two bullets and kill me.. I want the chance to run around/take cover/duck.. etc. Sure it works against the player shooting at you - but gives you more chances of survival.

I didn't mean for it to be like Insurgency type of fast killing time, just more of a Battlefield 3 killing time.

You can still escape bullets and you still feel like you can kill somebody with any gun you own. Which I've noticed in newer Battlefield games, that doesn't happen very often.

★★★ Newbie

Put an actual authentic AK-47 in game like the Arsenal SAM-7SF and be able to switch multiple calibers, barrel lengths, etc. change the basic AK SAM-7SF to a Krinkov/AK-74U/SAM-7K variant or a RPK.

Please!, Please!, Please! Lets have both the SCAR-17 and SCAR-16 or the ability to do a caliber switch on the gun, with SCAR-17 chambered in 7.62x51/.308 running 20 round magazine and SCAR-16 chambered in 5.56x45/.223 running a 30 round magazine.

Caliber changes, barrel lengths, and different variants of the same model of gun be made out of one rifle. Example - M4 (full auto) to M16 (3 round burst) to MK11 (single shot DMR)

Have 3 to 4 positions on some guns, Safe, Semi Auto, Burst, Full Auto. Example - HK guns such as the MP5 are known to have this option.

Character customization for each specialist - male/female for each, customize face, hair, facial hair, or make basic with a few face options for each. Actual customization  of face in my opinion is the way to go though like that of Ghost Recon Wild Lands/Breakpoint or even Destiny for crying out loud.

Actual full loadout/clothing/plate carrier customization would be awesome too. Or your operators look changes with what you're running.

@SiNsOfThEDeViL Time To Kill is one of my pet peeves, too. I absolutely HATE bullet-sponging games!

I think 2042 will be popular but I won't like it as much. DICE have strayed too far away from Battlefield IMO. Here is my list.

Remove Specialists and reinstate proper classes

No chance of this happening, they have come too far to back out of this bad design decision.

No Story Nonsense

This is a multiplayer game. There is no real need for some sort of story progression. It's a waste of time and resources to develop this, Same goes for specialists.

Classic Maps

I agree that as the game goes along, there should be more classic maps from previous BF games.

Map Editor

Would be cool to get but it's very unlikely we will get one.

TTK (Time to Kill)

I don't want fast killing. See, this is why DICE needs to implement both normal and Hardcore modes. Everyone gets what they want. Win win situation. People like me who don't like dieing in 2 hits get to play happily and people who like quicker action and go on HC servers, Just like it used to be.
