Why don't you let your players choose the map? we don't want to play on the map in a timely manner we world edge map is a terrible map for me i want to play in olympus why don't you always leave this choice to your players ??

@Qasmarr It's to keep the user base unified and to have as little separation as possible.

Map voting would be nice but the issue there is that the most popular maps are only played and the rest are forgotten. And more recently those who don't get their map of choice while voting leave any way.

@Nasher355 Or they aren't playing it simply because the rest are better. Remember, map voting eliminates the worst/least popular and leaves the best/most popular maps.

Of course that's up to debate, there certainly are many threads regarding that.

But in regards to the game population if Apex functioned like Titanfall where you only queue for modes and maps you'd want, you're essentially splitting the player base in every playlist that increases queue times and increases skill gap between players (lower quality matches), resulting in either people quitting due to the increasing queue times or lower quality matches that further decrease the former/latter.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

@Deliberus Like you said. It would have to be 60 players queueing in a lobby if they introduced map voting. Not too sure that would work and/or how long it would be.

Map rotation is the best way to avoid splitting the playerbase. Maybe the current rotation times are not ideal, they should be 45 minutes to one hour tops, but other than that, it's the best compromise. I certainly don't want to wait 2-5 minutes to play a match, have even higher average lag or more unfair matchmaking, which are effects of thinning out the queue.

 

Voting system is also not a good idea. It can easily go in favor of the newest map or even make it impossible to play on a certain map for an entire play session or even for a couple of days. Also, it can increase the number of leavers significantly, as there would be people joining in hopes of getting into one map, then leaving because it's not what they wanted.

@Deliberus That is also not ok. jumping between maps every match can break the flow. There can be people trying to build some strats in certain locations, playing 3-5 matches on the same map consecutively helps them a lot. Also, when the map switches, the ongoing queues are destroyed, resulting in some lost time. Losing 30 seconds to 1 minute every 10 minutes can become an issue after a while.
