MEA New galaxy but similar old bad guys?

Is it just me or are the kett pretty much same as reapers just with a different wrapper?  They try to assimilate other species to make better kett?  Sure, they are not doing it to "preserve" life like the reapers say but , I just feel its the same old same old.

I thought that was disappointing too. Besides the similarities to the Reaper story, I was disappointed that we travel to another galaxy to meet humanoid aliens that have similar technology to ours. They should have been more alien. At least in the Milky Way it makes sense that aliens similar, because the Reapers guided their evolution.
