Actually, it makes perfect sense. Data mining is big business. If they can make a quick buck through advertising just by us being constantly online, then selling our info the highest bidder, why wouldn't a money hunger company do it? From their point of view (probably), a few disgruntled customers is a small price to pay.

There's a reason they were voted by The Consumerist with over 250,000 votes as Worst Company in America in both 2012 and 2013.

Can we get an update? It's been months and this app is still a huge mess of issues and errors.

I bought Mass Effect through steam. So every time I want to play I have to open your app which asks me to log in through steam which then sends me on a fetch quest of waiting for emails and codes to confirm everything. There's no way for me to set it to remember my linked accounts.

Worst part is that if you take too long to send me the email with the confirmation code, the initial log in process times out and I have to start all over again.

All of that just so I can go online and switch it to offline mode.

When I switch to offline mode it says it cannot connect to servers and it won't even let me use the offline game I have installed on my computer that I paid full price for.

I want to charge you guys for all the data you have stolen from me. You think it's free for me to connect online? Until you resolve the issue you caused with your stupid inane nonsense, I want you to compensate me for everything I have to do to work around your poorly made app. How do I get my money from you thieves?

I tried to toggle off "Usage & Sharing" so you guys can't profit off of my misery, but the option doesn't work. No matter how many times I click it, it just stays toggled on.

So what is it? Are you guys just so incompetent that you can't make an app that isn't designed to accidentally steal data or are you willfully playing ignorant so you can milk us for every penny you can squeeze out of us? Which of those two possibilities is it? Cause there's no other explanation for this series of errors that coincidentally work in favor of keeping me online and "volunteering" my data to you against my will and outrage.

Adding my name to the pile here. It's absurd I now need online validation to play an offline game I purchased through Steam.
Comcast went down for most of today and I couldn't pass the time on the Sims 4 because of this? What?

@rmvarillas My thoughts exactly. I know dam well it can be done. I feel like its because theyre trying to do some sketchy sh$t. I guarantee you its because they want some type of intel they can only pull when youre online. That, and or want to make sure you can access their online store at any time. It amazes me how I bought this game and cant even play it. Its sad that as technology gets more advanced, the shi#tier it becomes. I'm so tired of running into problems like this nowadays

I'm sorry, but it really doesn't. I live in a very old house and the wifi does not go through the walls. As I am renting and there is only one place to put a modem, I have no choice in my internet set up. My personal computer is on the other side of the house so in order for it to have internet I have to have a very long ethernet cord which I then have to run to the computer. Now, that ethernet cord is used for my husband to work from home and is a dedicated wire, so I have to disconnect the wire from his computer, take it down a long hallway, plug it into my computer, pull up the app, put it in offline mode, take the wire back to his computer, pull up any of the various Sims games I own, and play. EVERY SINGLE TIME I WANT TO PLAY. To make it worse, most Sims games need to be restarted regularly, but the app crashes because its not online so to continue playing I have to go through all of that again. I usually can't because my husband is working and I can't disconnect the ethernet wire again. I used to play daily, not anymore. This is a huge problem. Many of us simply CAN'T be online all the time. Please please help us to be able to play our games. I have been playing various Sims games, since Sims 1, for over 22 years. At this point, I can't wait for Life By You and Paralives. This is what YOU have done to me. I was a loyal player, I ignored any and all talk of other games replacing The Sims. Now I'm running to them. This is on you. Thousand upon thousands of dollars I feel you are taking from me by preventing me from playing my games. Again, all future revenue lost because I will not buy any more Sims dlc until this is fixed and if its not fixed before a replacement game is released, then you have lost me forever. You have stolen not only my games from me but my love of them, and it breaks my heart.

Same thing here. I work offshore and have to use my mobile phone as a hotspot (which doesn't always have available service). When i put the app on offline mode it won't even stay there. If my pc sleeps or even just the screen turns off when i come back it pops up a login error and wants to restart the app. I love sims and madden, but i just can't bring myself to renew my playpro or to buy any games run on this platform until you support offline login. The origin app was perfect and you had to go tinker with it.

I would like to confirm that the EA app will not open when there is no wifi. I’m currently without wifi and cannot get it or my sims 4 game to run.

10/6/23 Went offline in the middle of Sims 4 because it had checked for a 'delivery' and couldn't get back into my game. Absolute BS that I can't play a game I spent hundreds of dollars on, please fix this!!!!!
