Is apex beginner friendly?

[ Edited ]
★★★ Newbie

So I started playing apex and you can say I’m basically a noob, I have been playing for two weeks and what I noticed is how I am constantly being matched with level 500-1000 players, most of the time I can’t even attack other teams because I die instantly or I am constantly being hit with third parties and dying, would you all say that apex is beginner friendly? Because in my experience I have been playing agaisnt sweats every single game that kill me right away, not sure what to do, maybe start training on the range to get better at the game https://mobdro.bio/ ?

I don't want to make this sound overly harsh, but this game isn't friendly to anyone except streamers and professionals. But yes, newcomers have it worst of all.

Skill-base matchmaking exists in this game despite what I sometimes say (when I'm having a really bad day) or what others might say. But at the best of times sbmm is very loose. And at the worst of times it's so close to random that they may just as well turn it off.

The game also has an ENORMOUS learning curve. CoD team deathmatch this game is not. It's far more complex. And most new players approach Apex as if it is,first and foremost, a shooter. And that approach will get you killed so quickly and in such a bewildering array of ways that it might seem like you're just pounding your head against a brick wall. And you are. You have to learn how to shoot, no doubt. But you also have to learn how to manage a team since this is a team-based game. You have to learn every inch of every map. You have to learn how to drop - where to go and why to go there and what to expect when you arrive. You need to learn a staggering array of weapons that, because of attachments, will probably never behave exactly the same way twice. Hardest of all, imo, you have to learn game sense - the when, why, and how of engagements, repositions, timer management, risk management, and how to deal with a battle field that is always frenetic and often opaque. You have to learn every detail of every passive, tactical, and ultimate ability of every legend in the game. And there are a lot of them. I'm sure there are a lot of other things I forgot about, but the list is overwhelming as it is. You should feel overwhelmed. I've been doing this since the week the game dropped and I still feel overwhelmed a lot of the time. It's the nature of the game.

The only advice I can give is be patient, use your mic, and don't run toward danger in this game. Danger will find you soon enough. This game is 90% preparation and 10% action. Good luck trying to find teammates who will act on that knowledge.

Patience. Mic. But mostly patience.

Best of luck.

Oh, and the firing range is useful, but I would say that Bot Royale is even more useful. Try it out.

Welcome to the world of Apex Legends!

The game itself is fairly beginner friendly. Over my tenior I've noticed that during the beginning of the week it is not so sweaty.

But...

Starting Friday it tends to get quite sweaty and match making becomes lack luster. Other than that it can be an enjoyable game when the stars align.

Have fun and enjoy!

@testeri1 No, it absolutely is not. It is brutally difficult once you graduate from playing bots.

@testeri1 Short answer, no, not really. That's not really all that helpful though if you're trying to get better. So here's my advice:

Soon as you get to rank 20, start playing ranked instead of pubs. There can be a lot of smurfs and cheaters at the lower levels, like rookie through bronze, but push through that. You'll start to get normal feeling games when you hit silver.

Worry less about getting kills in the beginning. Focus more on staying alive. Rotate before getting stuck on the edge of the circle, and so you don't get gate kept by other teams. Learn the map, which routes are safer rotations. Learn how to traverse the map efficiently, how to be stealthy if you need to be.

As you do that, also practice in the firing range. Get familiar with the different weapons. See what clicks with you. Make sure to get decent with the meta weapons, like the r301, which has always been a staple and solid choice throughout every season.

One of the hardest things is figuring out how to work with teammates. A lot of teams will push into inferior positioning, and try to over extend you. It takes a lot of restraint to know when to stay back or push up with a team. Try to communicate, play smart, and have patience.

There's a lot to learn, but it will click after a while. Any questions feel free to ask.
