@pale_rider4 If you don't mind my asking, are you struggling to land hits with the guns?
Getting hits but not putting the opponent down?
Or are you getting wiped out in what feels like a single frame?

All great tips but would like to add one. There is no reason to run in this game except to go across open areas, take it slow, walk and always look around.

I have watched setting videos and how not to suck videos but I am still having a great deal of trouble getting kills in 2042. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am a long time battlefield player and really want to like this game but it is painful for me right now.

See my name?  Youre not the only one.  Im Old, Slow, and have arthritis in my hands, neck and back.   I accept Im gonna die in just about any twitch scenario.  So I try and play in a way to help the team.

I have T1'd Lis, C4, Im halfway through AA and Recoil.   I hunt vehicles.  I still die 9 times out of 10 because vehicles have such a high advantage, but it is a way I can play where the twitch aiming isnt as important.  And over time, I have become real good at hunting vehicles, even with using recoil on air because they just LOOOOVEEEEE to hover.

Great write up, only point I have a quibble with is always sticking with the "meta" setups.

Once I T-1 something I immediately move on to something else, learning all the positives and negatives playing different weapons/specialists will make you better and more well-rounded player overall.

It will also make you reevaluate your playstyle and constantly adapt especially since the "meta" is always shifting in this game a lot anyway.

I have all the base SMGs, LMGs and ARs T-1ed and have been using the Vault weapons exclusively lately and even though they're not quite as good as the default weapons they are still fun and challenging to try and T-1.

@Ironhead841Hey, thanks!

More specifically with the meta setup it's easier to learn the game. Once you're more familiar and comfortable with those weapons it'll become much easier to try other ones.

It can be really good to mix things up once you hit a wall. Or even go and play other games. Those can be good habits to break your own skill ceiling. I totally agree with you not being afraid of trying different things. I just wanted to say don't be afraid to use meta weapons and sticking to them if that's winning you fights and you're having fun.

I'm not big on using the word "Playstyle" because I think of it more as doing what is the most effective for different situations. Like you might be an aggressive player, but that doesn't mean just hold 'w' and blindy leap into every situation. It can be fun and chaotic, but I think being Dynamic is the best mindset. I'll be campy while defending a position, but I'll break out of that and get real aggressive if I think I can take someone off guard. I don't think that's necessarily the way you were using the word playstyle, but wanted to mention it.

Positioning is King in every single shooter. Forgot to mention that. Always try to make it an uneven fight if you can. Take the high ground. Keep yourself behind cover much as possible. I've also just learned about the "70-30" rule I think it's called. Basically your gun is on your right side. So, if you peek a corner moving right you'll tend to win more gun fights. Just watched a Tarkov video that mentioned this.

True all the way around, I think a lot depends on what your expectations are going to be once you start playing.

If you're obsessed with stats like K/D, then you your playstyle/dynamic will affect your expectations and how you approach the game.

I'm a fairly aggressive player (think Leroy Jenkins) who should definitely look before I leap a lot more and have a tendency to just bomb into a lot of situations that in hindsight I maybe shouldn't have, lol.

But I couldn't care less about my K/D I'm just trying to squeeze as much fun as I can out of every gaming session.

Sometimes it's been a struggle with BF2042, especially with some of the issues in this game (like a real struggle) but ultimately, I have just been trying to have a little fun with some buddies while playing a game.

At range I am struggling to get hits. But med to long range I get hits but fail to drop people before they drop me.

So everything pretty much applies except all that stuff about mice and sensitivity.

I'd suggest going into Portal and finding a server that's either "Zombies" or Humans vs AI and play around with the M5A3. Find a good FOV between 74-90 and trying switching between "ADS Field of View" on and off. See what makes it the easiest for you to see enemies. Practice spotting enemies before firing and then work on trying to be able to do that while firing at them if possible. I don't what it's like to play on a controller to be honest.

Turn Vsync off. Otherwise you could be a frame or two behind other people.

M5A3 is probably the easiest and best all around gun especially for getting used to the game. Try using the "Warhawk Compensator", Fusion Holo sight and TV 2x, and the extended standard Mag. Even the default is easy to use. You could try to farm the attachments in Portal.

Did you mention TDM? Conquest is arguably the main mode and I'd recommend practicing more there. It gives you room to play a lot of different ways and it'll help you find your personal preference.
