How does matchmaking in this game actually work?

Genuine question , when I’m on Xbox the squads seem way more balanced like level wise and skills , on PS4 it seems to be an absolute crap show on PC I have no idea but interested to know if it’s as bad as PS4.

Yes on PS4 it's absolutely horrendous.

I have no idea how match making works.

I used to find the type of players i was matched with differed depending on legend I chose.

But I'm most often matched wwith players who seem really bad both in terms of skill and intelligence. 

Maybe 1.5 times out of 20 I'll get an "alright" team.

@iaminc_uk on PC total trash, if I'm plat I can't play with my friends on silver, but if you're gold, you face Predators. I don't know if they fixed that, but that's a fail of a ranked system, which is expected coming from EA I've been on warzone lately and when I play Apex because some friends on mine still are we stick to duos or trios.

@JayPD0Talking about ranked specifically,  you'll see previous predators but not this seasons.

I'm diamond getting everything from bronze to plat and very rarely another diamond. Actually I don't remember seeing another diamond in my team this season although It may have happened while I was tabbed out so I'm not excluding it altogether.

When you hit D3+ you'll get put into the pred lobbies but there are still ways you can circumvent this from what I gather.

There's an algorithm in code, it gets executed.  So it does work exactly as designed
