Hitboxes while in the punch animation

Is it just me, or do hitboxes while punching seem to disappear?

Im talking about mid animation of punching

I get it, the bend and lean into the punch making them a bit "SHORTER"

But even when I intentionally aim low, its like all of a sudden I am unable to hit targets at all

Between animations I get plenty of hits, but mid animation its like the game just removes their hitbox
