First look was really cool and i am mostly looking forward to getting my hands on it. However from what was shown i have 3 glaring issues with this system that are all kind of interconnecting problems. Im concerned how its going to work, which i hope will get addressed before oct 1st.

 

1. Progressing through the rewards seem to be solely based on earning enough XP to get a prize bulb. Now this wouldnt be an issue if every class had an equal rate of XP gain, unfortunately they dont. Kills are the most common way to earn quick xp, so any class which doesnt specialise in getting kills, ie. most tanks/supports, are at an extreme disadvantage immediately. Healing offers such a low XP gain that for players that enjoy those classes, such as myself, it will take significantly longer to level up compared to a player focusing on kills.

 

If this isnt fixed im actually feeling disincentivised to play sunflower and will most likely avoid her, why waste my time trying to play my favourite characters when im actively putting myself at a disadvantage in terms of progressing through my prize map. Citron conversely can just hold his shield up and get 50xp every second 🤷🏼‍♂️ XP gains arent balanced enough to be the only way of levelling up the map, they need fixing. Everyone will just feel forced to play whichever class gets the most xp otherwise.

 

 

2. From the sneak peak it looked like 15,000 xp was the requirement to earn 1 bulb. If this is the final figure this is WAY too much. Anyone who has gone from special elite level 9 to master with a class knows how grindy it is and thats only around 10,000. 15,000 xp is like 3-4+ hours of games, all that to presumably get 1 bulb is stupid. Especially considering items are priced on average around the 5-6 bulb mark on the prize map. Around 4-5000 is way more reaonable thats like a bulb every 2 games.

 

 

 

3. Xp exploits in pve needs to be fixed. If not it defeats the whole purpose of the system since the best way to get everything will be to instead of actually playing the game, just grind the pve exploit. 

 

 

Hopefully these get fixed but im not getting my hopes up based off the games current track record. Im already expecting to spend majority of my time electric sliding queenigma into weirding woods lake over and over. It either that or spend 10 hours getting enough xp as sunflower to get 1 bulb

@RockScorpion384 Completely agree, xp earning definitely needs looking at for characters that support teams in ways other than through vanquishes

The devs said on the stream that you will also be able to earn prize bulbs through challenges, I imagine a system similar to the quest board in GW2. XP prize bulbs are likely just something to grind towards for max ranked players.

I saw the XP requirement too and mentioned it on Zero's video about this. 15k per bulb is a lot and indeed some classes gain XP far better than others (Rose for example has been sluggish to level for me). Hopefully the prize challenges will be for the majority of the bulbs and they need to fix XP exploits.
