@reconzero There definitely feels like the use of EOMM at play in this game. Which honestly should be illegal. I notice that it does tend to favor people who like to just hot drop, lose fights, and eventually the game gives them an easy round. I had friends that insisted on just pushing everything, and it didn't seem like they would improve at all lol. I like to win, and I tend to make routines on how I play games, so maybe I'm the odd ball.

I keep trying other shooters, but they just refuse to innovate and do anything interesting for the last decade at this point. It's so stale, and that's why Apex is so frustrating. I absolutely hated BR's, but Apex figured out a way to make it a lot of fun. They really nailed the dynamic of hectic game play, with some breaks in between, all while working towards an actual goal.

Hopefully something decent comes out soon so I can mix it up more. Waiting on Marathon, but nervous how that's going to turn out.

This made me laugh out loud. Not because you're wrong, but because you're absolutely right... and yet I play this game for one reason and one reason only: because they really nailed the dynamic of allowing me to calmly do absolutely nothing for 17 minutes, all while working towards the actual goal of still being alive when there are only two squads left. One man's famine, another man's feast, as they say.

I'm mildly curious myself about Marathon, although the Bungie of today is a far cry from the Bungie of Reach. I remember trying Destiny while it was still in beta. 60 seconds of that was enough to know it wasn't the game for me. Hoping Marathon might be, but like you, not holding my breath.

In the end, for all the reasons we've already talked about and oh, so many more, I would prefer a good PvE shooter or maybe an extraction BR. The fewer live enemies, the better. Time will tell. Till then, best of luck.

@reconzero I "no fill" when I get frustrated with my teammates just dying instantly every round. It can be a good way to change up on how you play. I used to go Octane, and find places to pad up to with a sniper that people couldn't reach, but they kinda ruined that a bit. Now you can pretty much climb anything, and lots of the characters have mobility abilities that allow them to do the same. Oh those were the days, Charge Rifle (that was a proper laser), Octane, then padding up to unreachable spots lol.

I hate tactical shooters, I think they're slow, boring, and mechanically stiff. So since Marathon is being developed by Bungie, it's probably going to be a lot like Destiny, which I loved for the most part. I had probably over 3k hours in D2, and in the top ranks of most PvP modes. The community kept asking to unbalance the game, and when they started doing that, the PvP felt infinitely worse. That's when I left. Plus, peer to peer is the freaking devil. Never again will I play a shooter that has that.

I think Bungie is, and always has been, a very capable studio. So I have faith they can do something really great. I think every new release of Halo had mixed reviews, so it just comes down to preference I guess.
