Why don’t they understand by now that good game = many players it’s litterly that simple. Devs working on something they can be proud of helps towards loyal developers with passion and making a good game that with a crew like that will be more efficient and that way much cheaper and succesful. Ironically the reason they can push this garbage is because this was once true.

Heads never roll for executive leadership, and often not even other management (though apparently did for 2042 at least). It's usually the developers who have zero control over the disaster spearheaded by leadership that bear the brunt of the consequences.

@edgecrusherO0 the fact that almost the entire leadership from DICE was "let go" speaks volumes as to how dire the situation was/is and how pissed EA was at these individuals...

Who ever could have thought that the creative/studio lead for Candy Crush might not be the best person to run a core-game development studio?!

Based on 2042, I'm not even sure he had any management chops worth a darn either. Especially given that Vince had to come in and change/update/improve processes internally because they were a mess.

Not saying it's all his fault, it's a team effort to deliver this kind of disaster of a game. But it sure doesn't help when the top guys previous experience is...a casual mobile game.

2042 has been left out of multiple quarterly reports since the haphazard [zone] launch. The fact that it was left out of yet another is hardly a surprise.

★★★ Guide

Tom Henderson, who got every single information right before release, said that they only had a skeleton crew working on the game. He also leaked that a new BF is already under development, which aligns well with the job posting for an experienced designer for story-based fps on a new Studio (something like that). EA said it is not true, that they have a full dedicated team, and that new manager said that BF2042 is their top priority. They also said the game would be awesome. The game was terrible. There are not enough updates or content.

EA, DICE:

WE KNOW YOU ARE LYING.

Your lies and how you disown BF2042 an annoyance, and embarrassing.

lol, Tom is a somewhat reliable leaker but he in no way got every single piece of information right before release.

A new BF is in development - from a new studio being run by Marcus Lehto, who is in charge of the BF narrative overall, in Seattle. That's not being made by DICE or taking staff who are working on 2042, it's a brand-new team.

EA have not said it's not true, there are official posts on their hiring sites for roles at that company. And that was the DICE GM that said that "all of DICE" is working on 2042.

Don't get me wrong, I don't believe the DICE GM that "all of DICE" is working on 2042 because we're not seeing it, but the narrative entry being built by Lehto's new studio has nothing to do with any of this.

Simple games make money.

Those being - One's that require minimal effort from the player to enjoy themselves.

Battlefield is a niche game that takes a lot of effort to understand and get good at.

Maybe they realise this now and will stop trying to make it a focal point of their earnings calls.

This will only be good for the game.

BF isn't dead, such drama.

@7gates_of_hellWhen 3 came out, and the pay to play DLCs with new maps and weapons, I happily laid out the cost for every single one. Didn’t love every single map or weapon but had no issue paying for the DLCs. The focus on micro transactions is helping put the nails in the coffin. Vanilla BF3 started with more maps and weapons that 2042 will have at the end of the season 2, and after paying for Gold I’d be unwilling to shell out for DLCs now. I have no intention of buying skins or any of that bs. I’m not even sure why they went away from the DLC model?
