Can we talk about downed shield lag?

Downed shield lag: When where you're aiming should clearly block shots, but fails to do so anyway.

 

There are one of two reasons why this happens:

 

  • There is latency in how the shield is modeled for the downed player vs. the attacking player
  • The client doesn't show where the shield actually is on the server because the model has to slowly turn

If it's the former, it needs to be updated because as of today, I see very little effectiveness for grabbing anything better than what I drop with. If it's the latter, the client for the downed player needs to reflect how fast they can turn to protect themselves. This is essential in being able to navigate back toward teammates for a rez.
