Battlefield 2042 on OLD GEN CONSOLES

Battlefield 2042 on old gens (PS4, XBOX) I want to play BF 2042 on PS4 because I have not PS5. and i want to know will there be normal optimization on old gens to play bf 2042 ? what is your thoughts?

EA CEO said that BATTLEFIELD 2042 looks incredible on Last-Gens and Next-Gens too so i guess the optimalization will be great.

Yes, it will be but with reduced player count per server. Instead of 128 player games, old gen consoles will support 64 players.

Sure thing. DICE can't leave dedicated Battlefield players on Old-Gen behind.

One thing that concerns me in particular is old gen map downscaling to accommodate the lower player count. Has DICE or EA said if they plan on reducing map size for old gen? I think it would be disappointing to cut the the maps in half, thereby removing alot of playable area that many of are looking forward to.

I don't recall seeing any plans to reduce map sizes to accomodate the smaller player counts. I could be wrong but don't think that was a thing in BF3

That is correct smaller maps for the older consoles due to the 64 player cap.

I just found an article that said the maps will indeed be downscaled, but anyone who buys the old gen version can upgrade to the next gen version for free
