Banned even though I don’t play?

My buddy made me get apex back when he was super into it maybe 4-5 months ago, downloaded it and played it occasionally for a three week period and then never played it again just got an email this week about getting permanently banned. I don’t play Apex and its not a huge deal to me as I haven’t spent money on it but having a random ban like that happen to my account is putting me off from buying 2042. Ive submitted an appeal and it seems to be a widespread issue does anyone have any insight on whats going on?
