Hello, I was wondering why Anthem use dx11 instead of dx12 ?
Dx12 offers nice features like m-GPU support and usually a significant leap in performance for rendering.
I guess it rely a lot on technical choices regarding the rendering engine of the game, in the case of Ashes of Singularity mGPU is working well (check some benchmarks).
EA and Bioware got the chance to lead the way here.
But i'm more waiting on Dx12 for overall perf boost than mGPU.
Any chance Bioware/EA staff would give us some news regarding this ?
Well, DX11 will allow a much greater compatibility, especially with older GPUs.
Making a game run in various version of DX, has a pretty big cost, hence, DX11, for now.
I would not think of it as being impossible to switch to DX12 over time if the game performs well though.
Anthem is built in Frostbite, which is more than capable of great DX12 performance AND mGPU support as demonstrated in Battlefield 1.
Plus, Anthem is really pushing the limits as to what is capable on current gen hardware, it would only make sense to support DX12.
significant leap in performance for rendering.
Is that true? I know Shadow of the Tomb Raider runs better on DX12, but I heard that's an exception.
I don't work for EA.
i remember that DX12 is not good at M-GPU
DX12 is brilliant at M-gpu. The problem is its now down to devs to implement not gpu companies. Most devs don't bother with mgpu which is a real shame.
I swear the demo showed dx12 in my afterburner osd. So there is no option for dx12 as of release? Just want to make sure I'm not missing some setting
