AP points bug

So for the past 3 weeks now my friend (who's in silver) has been having an issue with his AP.

For every win he'll gain 12 AP every time, but every loss he loses around 50 points.

I've seen all the MMR system talks like its based on the skill of the enemy, but even when he plays with me and other mates (we are gold) he still only gets 12 even when he gets most damage or kills .etc.
