Playing Sims 4 on multiple PCs?

★ Novice

I am considering downloading sims 4 double deluxe on my work computer, as I am incredibly bored during my 8 hour shifts. I already have it downloaded on my personal PC with a lot of saved gameplay and I was wondering if I download the game on my work computer if I will be able to access and add on to my existing saved game. Thanks!

Hi @hamalambs

you would need to either manually copy your files back and forth (they can be found in documents\electronicarts\thesims4\) or you can try moving them to OneDrive or another cloud service.

I'm not really sure how you can make the game use those files instead of the local one though. The game does have a tendency to just decided itself which folder it wants to use.

You can try setting up oneDrive to check if the user folder changes.

Here's how you can find out which one is in use: https://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/

Thank you! Also, while you’re here, do you know much about mods and if so, how to safely choose and download them and about the multiplayer mod? I’ve got some friends who I’d love to be able to play the same saved game with! Thanks for all your help:D

Hi @hamalambs

I'm not that uptodate with mods but if you download them from the popular sites like ModTheSims there shouldn't be a problem. Always try to get them from where the creator originally uploaded it to make sure you always keep up to date when there's a patch. The mods you read a lot about should be safe. Just be aware that they get outdated with patches. You can find some more info on the general use of them here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/PLEASE-READ-Usage-of-Mods-and-Custom-Content/td-p/3936231/

I haven't used the multiplayer mod and don't really know what the status on that is. Their Discord is probably a good way to start: https://discordapp.com/invite/DQWCRv3
