Do a female vampire and a male human produce a human child ?

I am playing as a female vampire, and I want to have a normal human child, is it correct that I need to get a male human ? Or what is the mechanic of this ? From what I understand (could be wrong) the male is the indicator of the child's life form. Please correct me if i am wrong.

There is a 50/50 chance that it will be human/Vampire.
