Hey @yetanotherglitch,
Sorry to read that you encounter the "Certificate Authentication Failed" error.
The best way to fix that is to upgrade your OS.
If you don't want to do that, you will need to follow the following developer's troubleshooting steps: "Certificate Authentication Failed" error troubleshooting
Please note this troubleshooting will only fix your game until October. Then you will need to update to Windows 7 or newer.
Good luck and I hope that you will be able to get back to the game soon.

but i must say that was the first time i seen the page you pointed me to
http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/LauncherRepairUtilityP1.8.2_EOL_xpvista.exe

The method you just used will stop working in October and the game will again stop working.
You will need to use at minimum windows 7 to play the game after october

It appears that you are all wrong.
Try this instead:
Edit the "launcher.settings" file in your SWTOR folder, add the following line:
, "skip_self_patch": true

Also, be sure to edit your launcher.settings after running LRU:

What you posted was a known workaround before the old certificate expired fully in Oct 17 , which is why that thread was before October 17
Are you saying you are playing on an XP / Vista system with the system clock set past Oct 17 ?
