I have the game downloaded on Steam. When I press Play, the SWTOR launcher is displayed. I login and the launcher gives me the Play option. When I click Play, the screen turns black and the Windows loading icon swirls on the screen for about 10 seconds. The black screen goes away and SWTOR in Steam says STOP for a few seconds and then switches back to Play. I have tried numerous troubleshooting tips involving the client_settings.ini file and the client_defaults.ini file. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times. I have tried the swtor.com download as well and same problem. I do not know what to try anymore. I just want to play this game.

best not to alt tab away when the game is loading
if need Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor and delete just the file called diskcachearena then start the launcher and login.
