NHL24 - January 25th Tuner Updates:

Available at 12 PM EST

Offensive Puck Ragging:

Community Feedback:  Players can take advantage of the Full Pressure system to puck rag in the offensive zone and run out the clock.

  • Removed the Adrenaline Energy Modifier so the offensive team will drain energy at their normal rate.
  • Removed the Pinned Attribute Debuff for the defensive team.
  • Full Pressure will continue to modify the energy drain for defensive skaters.
  • This puts emphasis on defending teams to pick their moments to attack the puck carrier, and allow teams to get fresh legs on the ice if there is a whistle.

Community Feedback:  Pressure should not be gained through simple offensive zone puck possession. This encourages players to continuously cycle the puck to build up Pressure instead of actively attacking the opposing team.

  • Severely reduced the amount of pressure gained through Offensive Puck Possession.

Hustling and Energy:

Community Feedback: Straight line hustling is a very prominent strategy. Skaters who have no energy are able to hustle at high speed, allowing them to stay ahead of defenders even when exhausted. Tiring out a skater should carry more risk, making players pick their moments to Hustle or conserve energy.

  • Hustling when exhausted will no longer provide any hustle speed bonus.
  • Increased Hustle Energy drain by 33%..
  • Increased overall Energy impact to max skating speed by 10%.
  • Player’s max skating speed is now affected when their energy is 33% depleted. Previously, max skating speed was affected when their energy was 50% depleted.
  • Reduced WOC Energy Drain from acceleration by 16%, to make it consistent with other modes.

Additional Updates:

  • Further reduced the CPU Teammate Penalty slider to lower the chances of CPU Teammate penalties.

@EA_Aljo I'm curious to see how this will affect the game. Already seems the pressure system is an unwanted feature by majority of the population! It is a big reason why the competitive scene has been moving on. Many E-sports competitors are giving up for other games.

I played hockey at a high level IRL the other day and the feel virtually with this pressure system makes it very arcade where it comes nowhere close to the real hockey experience.

I feel now this is going to impact D-man and goalies even more since the pressure meter causes them to lose stamina even if they aren't attacking... My experience with this I noticed that glides cause stamina to decrease also. A goalie doesn't even need a shot on them to lose it which makes them more vulnerable...

No idea why Mike thinks this is a good thing when numerous members around the community dislike it and rather more important content be introduced instead of these gimmicks we keep getting! Like yeah we got the glass breaking but not like before! Hitting is okay tbh... Just certain aspects of this game don't make sense why they got the green light! GWC is a complete mess right now with the pressure system!

Not fair to us consumers and feels unacceptable for a full priced game. I will give the update a try tomorrow but if this pressure system stays that is going to ruin the population!

Happy to see that EA are still adapting and improving things.

Hope the new tuner will not mess up my sliders too much🫣

@BIGRlTCHY

I think the pressure system was poorly received because it was so lopsided in favour of offense - by adding a feature that allows the D to counter/build their own, it'd be near perfect in my opinion.

I've played at a high level as well and can see the merit to a pressure system but fully agree there need to be certain tweaks. I have been absolutely gassed and more willing to take a hook/slash and be on the verge of just passing out but I've never floppy chickened my way in goal or outright didn't make an effort, no matter how futile, to get my body infront of the puck.

Losing more stamina and making harder to regain is realistic, but I don't like to see a timed lockdown on it when i'm literally not moving at all

Champion

All good changes, at least on paper.  I look forward to seeing how things work in-game.

I'm glad the development team is still willing to listen to feedback and make changes.  Especially to something like the pressure system that they obviously thought was a great idea and has gone over like a lead balloon.  In years past I could easily see them just leaving it as-is for the entire life of the game.

@EA_Aljo I am appreciative of the devs making these updates based off the community's feedback. I'm glad they are continuing to update the game & hope they continue to do so monthly (at least).

@RatedxPGxEnigma (It would've been nice if they changed this before HUT WC but whatever). What % is the CPU Penalty slider at now?

★★ Apprentice

It would be good if they would also include community feedback on the presentation, namely that the full presentation needs to come back as an option for NHL 25

Why is simply letting us clear the puck not getting fixed? It's been broken since launch.
