@kreativeangel93 while this might be a new bug , high chairs are extremely buggy to begin with! 😖 I haven't used them in the game in years!
It is better to just set a serving tray of food (or a single plate if you wish) on the counter, table, floor, or even in the toddler's personal inventory and direct them to either grab a serving (if it is the serving plate) or to just eat (if is is an individual portion.) 😅
Toddlers will then usually sit on the nearest open seat (not a chair pulled up to the table), unless the other family members are in another room , to which the toddler will go and sit by them! 🥰
If I use highchairs at all it is only for looks and I never put the toddlers in them. Too often every adult or teen in the house will all try to put the toddler in the highchair at the same time! 🤦♀️ There used to also be a bug where adults or teens would take a toddler out of the highchair before they could even eat! However that one was fixed , I believe. Still , it is just so much easier to not use the high chairs! The high chairs in this game are evil! 😱😅

@kreativeangel93 Hello! Based on the image you shared, it looks like you might be experiencing the bug in the below linked thread.
[OPEN] Grab Serving For Toddler Isn't Working (Highchair and otherwise) - Answer HQ (ea.com)
If that is the case, please click "me too" on the first post and add any comments you wish to share. Basically, the bug prevents parent sims from completing the "grab a serving" for toddlers from a prepared meal. Sims can "give food" by clicking on the high chair or refrigerator though. The workaround is when the sim puts the plate down after they won't place the plate on the high chair, you can drag that plate to the high chair and then direct your toddler to eat. It definitely is an annoying bug! I'm still having an issue with it as of a few days ago.
