if i retire a sim, can i use that sim later as a playable sim when i have an open slot?

@47wobbles no that isn't possible when you retire a Sim they'll hang around as a none playable Sim. Your current Sims can do events with them and a special storyline. 

After a while you can choose say goodbye forever to them, then they'll only be shown in your family portrait.
