restraunt staff won't show up

My restaurant employees won't show up for work. Well, one of my chefs and no servers will show up. Here's what I've done so far, in order:

1) Exiting the game and logging back on

2) Rearranging the furniture

3) Firing the no shows and hiring new workers

4) Changing the menu

5) Changing uniforms

6) Delete unnecessary furniture

7) Leave the restaurant for a week

8) Made sure my computer met specs and was in laptop mode

9) Freed up hard drive space

10) Contacting EA for help, they gave me these steps:

     1) Delete and reload the game

     2) Erase downloadcache

At one point my second chef started coming in but disappeared. At this point, I'm not sure what to do to get the game working. Any ideas?

So, I found a workaround, not quite a fix. If I start work prior to going to the site then it seems to fix the issue.
