Why don't the sages where the outfits I give them?

I changed the clothing of my sages, and it worked fine for a while, but all of a sudden they have changed into a completely new outfit that doesn't even exist as a part of any of their outfits, but they are locked in them, so even if I tell them to change to a new pair of clothing, if I go away and comeback, the sages will wear that new randomized clothing.
