Why I can't sell earbud?

So I created some new sims and found out that the game automatically add earbud to some sim's inventory.

I don't want this item so I always place it on the ground and destroy it(from debug cheat).

1. Is there any way to stop this? I don't want this thing.

2. And why I can't just sell it from inventory?

1. You get one prompt about free earbuds shortly after starting to play with a new household that you can decline. Notice there will only be one prompt covering the entire household so you can't choose per Sim.

2. Place in the world on home lot then sell from Build/Buy mode.

@99publicidentity, if you know that you don't want any Sim in the household  you are playing to have earbuds, then when you get the call asking if you would like them or not, click "Not interested".   If you think you might want them for that Sim and then change your mind, try what @jpkarlsen suggested!
