Which laptop is best to play the sims 4?

★★ Novice

So i'm looking to buy a new laptop, my current one is a HP, intel core i3 and i can only just play the sims 4 on the low setting, I've been looking at these 3 but which one would be best? Any other recommendations which aren't too expensive would be appreciated!

@fikevan17  The hard drive on the Asus has more than enough space for all Sims 4 packs, plus all your user content.  You could fit Sims 3 on the drive too, if you wanted.   But if you have a large collection of movies, music, photos, or some other kind of data, you might run out of space.  That's why I linked the third laptop, in case you really need more storage.  On the other hand, for £50 you could get a 1 TB external hard drive for your spillover data.  Most apps will run slower on an external drive, but viewing data would be the same.

It should also be noted that the hard drive in first laptop you found is a mechanical drive, which is significantly slower than a solid state drive.   Sims 4 will run the same once it's loaded, but it will load more slowly, as will Windows and almost anything else you install.

The first one will run the game with all current expansions on ultra setting. The second will have trouble running the game on more than low settings and the latest expansions at all. The third one will be able to run all with low to medium settings. Perhaps some settings on high.

@fikevan17  As jpkarlsen mentioned, the first laptop is far and away the best option of the three.  But in terms of performance, you could do better for £700.  This laptop has the same processor and a significantly faster graphics card.  The graphics card is the single most important component in determining how well a computer will run most games, including Sims 4; this one should run most if not all future TS4 expansions on ultra settings too.  The laptop does only have a small hard drive, but 256 GB is still enough for Sims 4 and all of your saves, builds, and custom content, plus however many small apps you want.

This one, also £700, has a slightly stronger processor but is otherwise the same:

If you want more storage, this one, for £750, is the same as the first, except it has a 17" screen and its hard drive is twice as large:

If you want something specific, I'd be happy to look around a bit more.  Just let me know wht details matter to you and your preferred budget.

Thank you for both of your advice! I'm now looking at the 1st one you recommended, I'm just worried would it give me enough space to have the majority of expansion packs installed at the original one had 1TB

So they have put the price of the ASUS TUF up to nearly £800 now, I was prepared to pay around the £700 mark at a push but £800 is just a bit too much at the moment, I've been looking around still and I've found another one from ASUS the only difference I can find is the graphics card? What are your thoughts?

Re: Which laptop is best to play the sims 4?

@fikevan17  That's still a decent laptop, but the graphics card is slower than an Nvidia 1650 by a decent margin.  Given that the GPU is the single biggest determining factor in how well a computer will run Sims 4 (and most games), the downgrade might be disappointing.  But there are plenty of other options.

The Lenovo I linked before is still £700:

You could go even cheaper with this £600 HP—its Nvidia 1050 is slightly better than an AMD RX 560, so it's  a better choice than the one you linked.

I did see almost the same Asus for £730 on two other sites; I say "almost" because this one has the larger (512 GB) solid state drive:

https://www.box.co.uk/FX505DT-AL087T-ASUS-FX505DT-AL087T_2791825.html

These two are £700, both with a 1650.  The first has a 256 GB SSD, the second a 512 GB SSD:

Feel free to ask questions about any of these laptops.  Prices change quickly, so something that's on sale today might be more expensive tomorrow, as you've already seen.  But there are usually a couple of good deals available if you look around a bit.
