Unsure if it's a bug...

Recently I started a new game and made my sim: cheerful, maker and recycle disciple. She keeps getting the Dumpster Dove moodlet. I noticed that with another sim or two but I feel she shouldn't get it because she wants to dumpster dive.

Is it a bug or is it supposed to be like that?

The Recycle Disciple trait will cause your Sim to want to dumpster dive.
"Game Description: These Sims are rabid recyclers that benefit from recycling and rummaging for bits and pieces, but should they go too long without indulging in their hobby..."
Allowing them to do so can prevent them from swiping random items even on their own lot to recycle.
