Sims say bed is blocked no matter what I do

I have two sims in a household, and no matter what I try, they can't both lay down in a double bed at the same time. They always say that it's blocked and show a picture of each other. I tried resetting both of them, replacing the bed, bulldozing the house and remaking it, and moving to a new lot. None of these fixed the problem.
