Sims 4 Spark'd - Do you gain an advantage if you submit earlier?

I have read the details on the website and it suggests that you can start voting as soon as entries are uploaded. So if someone uploaded on the first day of the challenge they would have approximately 2 additional weeks of gaining likes than someone who uploaded on the last day of the challenge. 

Have I understood this correctly? It doesn't seem very fair if this is the case?
