I currently have a husband, wife, and two daughters for Sims. My question is, if both daughters both have spouses and eventually kids, does that mean I have to control all of them? Thanks in advance!

No if you move both daughters and their spouses into different homes then the one sim family will get on with their lives the only thing is you mentioned kids they won't have children on their own though as there is no story progression.
