Roommate Race Glitch

I think I’m having issues with the roommate race questing. I believe it is doing one for each of my sims, so what happens is I finish part of a chapter, and then it switches to another run of the same event. So basically I’m having to this event twice. Is anyone else having this same issue?  I find it annoying. I’ve been doing this event everyday, but I fear I won’t complete it. I’m having to use twice the energy and time it would normally take.

@GaimerTouchet Maybe you could stop doing the quest, let time run out and restart with one Sim.
