Okay so I have it for the PS4. I have 5 families on the same save. However every time I go on a family depending on the time I.e it’s 12:40pm an my sims were missing work/school. I then went on another family, it was the same time and the same thing happened. I was wondering if it’s the game? If there is a setting I can change to stop this? Or if it’s because I have more than one family on the same save?

This is a known bug on the PC/Mac version, but since they are essentially the same game (gameplay wise) there are bound to be bugs that are the same or similar.

At quick glance there doesn't seem to be a fix or work-around at the moment.
