Missing floors

★★ Novice

Nothing I do has fixed this issue, I've tried repairing the game and removing all of my cc but I still come across this error. Not sure what to do at this point

@SSeraphism If you are getting that error you may need to try a few things. Please bear with me as I don't ever use Mods or CC on my lot, so there may be additional steps that others may add that I'm not aware of. I would try this, though:

  • You said you removed your CC. It's possible there are remnants cached in that are affecting the game still, so you could also try removing the cache file, if you didn't do that when you removed the CC:
    Spoiler
    How to delete cache:
    • Exit your game and Origin
    • Go to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4
    • Delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder (your game will re-create this folder next time you open the game)
  • After doing this, given the error message you're getting, please try replacing the floor tiles with a non-CC flooring.
  • If replacing the flooring doesn't fix the issue, please try re-tracing each room. To do this use the wall tool and trace each wall in the room all the way back to your beginning point to make sure the room completes. This will normally re-create the floor and ceiling upon completing the room trace. You may want to activate the MOO cheat first to reduce or avoid deleting things while doing this.
  • If the floor is still missing please try to rebuild the floor.

Please let me know what worked, if one of these things helps, or if you need further help & troubleshooting. Thanks!

Re: ❗️ [WORKAROUND] Problems playing Sims 4 on the 16" MacBook Pro

★★ Guide

I am having weird problems with San Myshuno ever since the patch on 1/21/21. On 1/21/21, I tried three times to send a Sim from Windenburg to the Fashion District in San Myshuno, and it crashed every time. I had mods in at that point. On 1/22/22, my Sim was able to go the Fashion District, but there were weird graphics issues. So I exited, removed all mods, and repaired the game again. My game crashed twice more with my Sim from Windenburg in San Myshuno.

So this time, I loaded up the game with a Sim who lives in the Fashion District. The game started in Windenburg instead of in San Myshuno. When I sent him home, the game crashed again. I still have no mods in the game.

Edit: I updated my computer to Big Sur specifically in hopes that it would solve the problem. It didn't. The game still crashed immediately. I also repaired the game before playing.

Second Edit: I disabled Retina display in the game options. The game still crashed immediately.

Third Edit: I toggled Laptop Mode on and off. The game still crashed immediately.

Fourth Edit: I enabled Vertical Sync. The game still crashed immediately. I should note that I am able to cancel interactions and tell the Sim to walk a few feet. As soon as I zoom out, the game crashes.

This forum still won't let me reply to threads, so I am creating a new topic. The forum acts like my posts have been posted, but when I look for them, they are not there. When I tried to edit this post directly, it told me the post did not exist. I was able to access this post through a workaround to edit it.

@RouenSims

I've merged your post into the 16" MBP thread as it's really helpful info you've provided and good to have in the ongoing thread. The Reply button didn't work for me for a while either but then, magically, just started again. Very annoying. Can you use the Quick Reply button? If you can't reply at all start another thread and tag me and I can merge it into this one Standard smile

For your Mac issues, did you disable automatic graphics switching or download and run gfxCardStatus?

Here's an attempt to reply to your post. Standard smile

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I disabled automatic graphics switching, and it clearly did disable the switching. But it didn't solve the game issues.

Edit: Quick Reply worked! (I mean, it didn't solve the crashing, but it allowed me to reply.) Standard smile

@RouenSims

Yay! Although urgh that the game is still broken. May be worth trying gfxCardStatus, it has worked for some.

★★ Guide

I tried gfxCardStatus and set graphics to Discrete Only. I tried the fresh test save for a moment, and it seemed to be working. So I moved an original save into the new game folder to test my actual game. The game acted glitchy but kept running for a moment. Then the screen went entirely red for a few seconds. Then the screen showed my game again. Instead of crashing, the game froze up and I had to use the escape sequence on my laptop to exit.

I'm not sure if it is relevant to this issue, but I wanted to mention that Origin is also acting weird. Ever since this problem started, after I exit the game, my computer shows that Origin is running, but I can't see it. So in order to load the game again, I have to exit out of Origin and then start it up again.

I'm going to do a little more testing with a fresh save.

★★ Guide

I did some more testing with a fresh save. I created a new Sim, moved him into Windenburg, then had him travel to the Fashion District. Everything seemed to be working fine. But when I exited, even though I exited normally, I got a message from my computer: "The Sims 4 quit unexpectedly." And Origin still did the weird thing I described previously.
