Laptop for sims 4

★ Novice

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all well and keeping safe Standard smile

I’m looking to purchase a laptop to play the sims 4 on, my country is in lockdown and thought now would be good time to reconnect with my favourite game!

im not looking to spend more than £300 for a laptop, this is due to me not using it for anything other than the sims and will not use it in the long run!

i don’t mind if this laptop is refurbished etc just really want something to play the sims 4 on

thank you so much in advance everyone, keep safe! Xx

@claaaaaaaairex  Honestly, £300 isn't going to get you very far.  It wouldn't even in normal times, and the market is even worse right now, with all the people who've been buying laptops to use while working from home.  In terms of what you could get new for that price, these are all basically the same, except that the last one has much more storage; that larger hard drive is also slower.

(The Dell comes with Windows 10 in S mode, so you'd need to upgrade to Windows 10 Home before installing anything, which is free and quite simple.)  None of these laptops would handle Sims 4 that well.  Their processor and integrated graphics chip could manage low-medium settings okay, but the 4 GB RAM would make it difficult to run most or all expansions together.

This is a similar option, except with a stronger processor; and it's refurbished.  It still only has 4 GB memory though.

If you were willing to look at Ebay, you could find better options.  This one would run the game quite well, probably on ultra or high-ultra graphics settings, if it is as described.  But you should contact the seller to ask whether it comes with a hard drive, since there isn't one listed.  It wouldn't be particularly difficult to install your own hard drive, but you'd also need to install Windows, and possibly buy a Windows 10 product key.

Alternately, there are older laptops that would still run Sims 4 on high settings if in good condition.

There are always a few decent choices on Ebay, if you know how to look.  But you'd definitely want to take the computer to a shop, or a friend who's good with computers, before the Ebay money back guarantee ran out, just in case the laptop had serious enough issues to qualify as "not the item you ordered."  (A laptop that didn't work at all would certainly qualify.)

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask.
