Hey @sarahgodridge the best thing to do is to take a look at the specifications required for the game and then compare them to laptops in your budget: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims/the-sims-4/the-sims-4-system-requirements/

@sarahgodridge  For £500, you can really only get a laptop that would run Sims 4 on medium settings, at least if you install most or all packs.  If you're not planning on using the newer expansions, then you might be able to play on medium-high settings, although that depends on your preference for in-game framerates and which settings you want to raise.  Laptops with dedicated graphics cards capable of running the game on high settings are usually at least £600, and more like £700 for models that can handle ultra settings.

These laptops are all £500, from Argos or Currys and have the same specs, so they would perform pretty much the same.  They also all have IPS screens, the highest quality.  So the question becomes what screen size you want (14 or 15") and whether you like the other details of one of these better than the rest.

This HP has a newer processor that's a bit stronger than the one in the above laptops, but the graphics chip is equivalent.  Since the graphics chip will be the limiting factor in Sims 4, the performance should be the same.  The HP has an SVA screen, which is not quite as good as IPS but still produces nice image quality.

This Asus has the same hardware as the first three, except I can't figure out which screen it has.  (This particular Asus line comes with multiple different types of screens.)  But internally the game would run the same.

If you would prefer to save a bit of money, this one is £450 and has a slightly older processor with the same graphics chip.  Its screen isn't as good though.

@puzzlezaddict I have found this one. Will it be better at playing the sims? https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3104570

Re: I would like a laptop that can play the sims 4 well

@sarahgodridge  The graphics chip in the one you found is a little better, yes.  High settings might still be a stretch if you're installing most or all of the expansion packs, but you could play around with the settings and adjust them to your liking.

Just so you know, the screen is a TN panel, so the colors won't look as pretty.  But that doesn't affect how the internal components handle the game.
