I logged on after 2 days, and they're old all of the sudden? what happened?

★★★ Newbie

I don't understand what happened.. I logged on after 2 days off, and my very first household (in Willow Creek) aged to elderly.. they were on young adult, so somehow they aged two levels? some of the other households that I don't own in that world have aged too. I've only had my account for a few months, but have grown my worlds in that time. They stopped being my main focus, but I know I didn't age them with careers/kids/anything..Was I hacked, or did is something wrong?

What are the aging settings in gameplay options?
Do you play more than one household (rotational play)?
Gameplay options can be set to short, normal or long lifespans.

Auto age (played Sims): Allows the household you are playing to age.
Auto age (unplayed Sims): Allows all households in game to age.
You can choose to not allow aging until you are ready.
