Help! Controls question for sims 4

I can't find any answer anywhere, and it's getting really freaking annoying that forums are so confusing and very limited for new members.... hoping to get some answers from someone, anyone, please... In the Sims 4 I know to use , and . to pan the camera, but when holding an object it rotates the object instead. How do I pan the camera while holding an object?

What platform are you running on?  PC, Mac, PS4 or Xbox?

I run on a PC and just use the mouse to pan the camera.  I also have my controls set for the Sims 3 controls which I find much easier to use than the Sims 4 controls.
