Do I need a disc to input a code?

Hello! Im not too sure if I am on the correct forum topic but I'll ask away.

When getting an expansion pack disc. Will it prompt me to insert the disc into the laptop before being allowed to use the code? Or will it allow me to use the code without using the disc. 

I am asking because I'm getting a Cats and Dogs disc. But before getting it I would like to know if it would allow me to input the code without the disc because my laptop doesn't have a disc port.

Yes, you can just go ahead and put in the code and it works just as well. Just open your hard copy game and look for the paper inside that has the code. But, first go on Origin and click on where it says to enter a game code
