[Discover University] Organization Events Start Then Everyone Leaves

I have had this issue since purchasing Discover University when it came out. Whenever there is an organization event such as the Debate Showdown, I go to the location. All the furniture and sims are there, but the sims leave shortly after making the event impossible to complete. This happens for festivals as well, all the attending sims and vendors leave.
