Computer for the Sims 4

★★ Novice

I want to upgrade from my really old computer, so I am looking for a computer that I can download some packs and some cc, the graphics don't have to be great as long as the game runs smoothly, and I don't really want to spend more than $500. Do you think this computer can satisfy my needs: https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-laptop-17z-ca200-8yk85av-1  or maybe this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-ideapad-3-14-laptop-amd-ryzen-3-3250u-8gb-memory-1tb-hdd-abyss-b...

@hale232233424  Both those computers would run Sims 4, but not very well.  You could definitely do better even for $500 U.S.  For example, this one has a stronger processor with a faster integrated graphics chip, plus its hard drive is a solid state drive, so everything from Windows to apps would load faster.

This kind of hardware should run Sims 4 on medium graphics settings, but a dedicated graphics card would be better.  However, it's almost impossible to find laptops with even an entry-level dedicated card for under $500, unless you're comfortable buying from Ebay.  Even the used options from other stores tend to be a bit more.  I did see this one on Amazon for $520 though:

The graphics card in this laptop is about 50% faster than the chip in the first one, so it would certainly be worth the extra $20 if you were comfortable buying a refurbished model.  Some people aren't though, or they want more than 256 GB of storage.

If you'd like to see more options, just let me know what other details matter to you.
