Change from Freelancer to Athlete when Attending University

★★★★ Novice

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
What is your current game version number? 1.62.67.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Seasons, Cats & Dogs, Island Living, Discover University, Get Famous, Dine Out, Jungle Adventure, Parenthood, Realm of Magic, Strangerville, Vampires, Bowling Night, Cool Kitchen, Fitness, Kids Room, Laundry Day, Moschino, Movie Hangout, Perfect Patio, Romantic Garden, Sooky, Tiny Living, Toddler Stuff, Vintage Glamour
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Enroll in the freelance writer career (or possibly others) and enroll in university, moving to campus.
What happens when the bug occurs? Upon arriving on campus, career is changed from "Freelancer" to the entry level athlete position.
What do you expect to see? Sim arrives on campus and maintains existing career.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

When a Sim in the Freelance Writer career enrolled in university and arrived on campus, notifications appeared indicating she had left her job and entered the entry level of the athlete career (athletic trainer?). This occurred immediately upon moving into a dormitory lot. As this is alphabetically the first non-playable career, perhaps it is a bug with the freelance career not working with Discover University?

@Chaubin_806  Happend to me too. I applied for the Athletics Scholarship, by mistake, and entered automatic the Soccer Team Career upon arrival at UNI. Think It's by design.

@Chaubin_806 Tested this and had no issues.

What Uni did you choose ? What degree and classes and can you repeat the same for a different Sim ?

@Chaubin_806 Sounds like your Sim got the athletic scholarship, which requires her to join the university's sports team. The sports team is a career, so it replaces any other career she might have had.

★★★ Guide

If your Sim does choose the athletic scholarship it says (in veery small print) that in order to keep the scholarship they have to be a part of the soccer team (same for the e-sports one), which is most likely why it made your Sim quit their current job to join the soccer team. If you didn't choose that scholarship and still had your Sim quit their career then that definitely is a bug.

I should really learn to read the pop ups more closely - it was the athletic scholarship, not the career. ⚽️

@Chaubin_806 I did the exact same thing, the first time I had my Sim get that scholarship he was a level 9 athlete, and I was furious when it made him quit so he could join the soccer team, and I figured it was because he was in the athlete career. But then it did the same thing to my Sim who was a musician, which made me even angrier Large smile And then I finally realized what was happening. They wrote it in such small print though, it's so easy to miss.
