Are Protective Values Tied to Outfit or Clothing Model? [Seasons]

★ Guide

I'm not sure if this belongs in Technical Issues but judging by the fact it's a technicality question I figured this sub-forum would be better than general issues.

My Question is this: When Creating a Sim's Outfit is the clothing protective values linked to the individual piece of clothing, or to the CAS Outfit Category.

The Reason I'm asking is I often use clothing models from other categories in CAS to "complete" outfits (e.g. Skirts in Athletic Outfits etc) and I was wondering if I was actually detracting from my protection by doing this with hot/cold weather clothes?

CAS outfit category defines protective status, @LeissaMyst, if I’m understanding your question. Winter outfit protects against chills, for example.
