Houseloads deleted?

★★ Novice

So I have this weird issue with my game. The game loads perfect and my CC/mods are operational. I haven't noticed anything off with the screen to indicate a glitch besides that all my households are gone. Completely removed from my game... I had about 70ish sims saved and none show up in my game anymore. I tried the usual stuff like updating my game, repaired it, tried removing the mods folder, deleting cache, etc. I even moved all my save files and opened the game after trying each and every slot save file, but nothing worked.

It's so weird because the last build I did for a household is completely intact but the sims that should be in it aren't apart of my game any more. All of my other homes/lots appear as I made them but not the households/. Which tells me it saved correctly, there's just something wrong with it. I'm not sure what to do... Any ideas

Hi, there
Has the game been played normally since then?
You wrote:

Does this mean that also in the data without mods/CCs, there are buildings, but no Sims?
And when you start the game, do you see any Households in the Household Management panel?
Did you also check for mod/CC updates?
This is a strange phenomenon and it would be nice to have as detailed an explanation as possible.
Based on the information provided at now, the only thing I would suggest would be to re-populate the "My Gallery" with the initial sims that are saved when you create a sim in CAS.
If you have made any progress on this issue, please report it here to help others who have encountered the same phenomenon.
Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the response and sorry this is so late-- as for your questions.

Yes, the game is working/playing normally. I have played the game without CC/Mods and the game is functional, though my households don't show up. As well with CC/Mods, which is also functional but again my households don't show up. **There are buildings. My map looks normal likes it did before. The only difference now is my households (sims) aren't showing up.

When I start the game there are zero households in my Household management panel. I'm also vigilant on my CC/mods. All corrupted CC are removed and mods have been updates prior to game play. Though even when I removed all CC/Mods or even tray files, the game still does not show me my households.

I created a new save file and have been using that version to build my new test households. I haven't removed any of the older save files (slots) in hopes I could potentially retrieve them. It may be helpful if I screenshot what i'm seeing.

This is my load screen-- It shows the test save file I created and the files I tried to save (recover) to see if my households would show up. The test file does have a test sim, which works fine. Again no other households show up. Weirdly enough, the load screen shows the last household I played with, but when I open the file they don't show up.

Screenshot 2023-01-06 at 11.59.22 PM.png

When I open the last save file (not the test), this is what shows up in my manage households tab. None of my almost 80 sims are here any more. Even when I go to other households its empty. **The test file save just shows the 1 household I created for the test.

Screenshot 2023-01-06 at 11.59.42 PM.png

Also my towns are normal, all houses are showing up. No missing CC or parts. Just not the sims who used to live in them. Even if I hoover over the home, it shows it's empty.

I truly have no idea what to do or look for...   Frown

Hi, there
Thank you adding information.
Does it generate any, LastException files, error messages, etc.? If so, please attach them here, so we may be able to better understand the cause.
And you write "The test file does have a test sim, which works fine. Again no other households show up." is when you start to play with this test save data?
If you started this test data by clicking "New Game", then it is normal that only the test sim shows up in "My Household" in the household management screen." When you start with "New Game", the saved data is created as a separate file from the data you have been playing with.
To summarize your post.
The houses you built load fine and the CC is showing fine.
The sims you played are not showing up and are missing from the household management screen.
Test sims with no mods/CCs are displayed and appear in the household management screen.
Is that correct?
I am not familiar with mods/CCs or any technicalities, but it is possible that the CC used on the played sim may have corrupted the sim's data. If this is the case, the sims will not show up until you delete the CC that was used on the sims, and even if you delete it, the sims may not come back.
I'm sorry I can't offer any solutions, but as I mentioned, if you have any error messages, etc., please post them here, or add any subsequent changes, etc., so we can get some ideas from others.
I hope you get your problem resolved.

Just in case.

Sorry technical issue on my end-- I responded and tried to edit and might have deleted so if this is a double response apologies.

In regard to your question-- I did not create a new game, i just used a recovered save file and started/used the test game with that. As for the CC/mods it still wouldn't make sense it's affecting it since. I tested the game with/without the CC/mods and even tray files but still the game did not show my households. So it must be something else.

Here is the lastexception file. **I have others but this is the latest one**

Hi there
Sorry for the late reply.
Has there been any change in your play since then?
As I told you before, I don't use mods/CCs so I can't explain the details myself, but I found the following thread with similar symptoms that I hope will help you solve the problem.

How much internal storage is available on your Mac?

Please open Terminal and copy and paste the following command then hit Enter/Return:

find ~ -type d -name "*Tray*" 2>/dev/null

After a little while it will return the results of the search. Please copy and paste the results in a post here.

@csachez515    Hi!  I'm not an expert at reading LEs but it looks like you have a mod that requires a pack that you don't have or possibly disabled. I also see a reference to a mod by ksuihuh. I don't use this mod but according to the description it is an 18+ mod (so we're not allowed to discuss it here) and it does require Get To Work as well as another adult mod. I don't know if this is what caused the problem with your households but it might be possible. You probably want to remove that mod until it is updated for the current version of the game.  If or when it is updated, you'll want to make sure you have the required companion mod (ensuring that is updated as well) and GTW to continue using it.  You may be able to get more information about the LE by searching for and joining Deaderpool's MCCC Discord server.  Even if you don't use MCCC, they have a lot of folks who can help with understanding the LEs.

If indeed it was something related to ksuihuh's mod that caused the problem, then you may be experiencing an issue reported in the below thread.

Also, if you saved the game after your sims disappeared then they have been permanently deleted from that save.  Have you tried using the Recover Save feature?  It's possible that an older save point has all your sims in tact.  First, I would move your mods out just to be safe and delete the localthumbcache.package file, located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game.   Then try the Recover Save feature by clicking Load Game, then clicking on the save you want and clicking the Recover Safe folder icon.  In the list that pops up, click on the save point you want and click Recover.

Broken save file after updating game

★ Novice

The last time I played the Sims 4 was on January 5th, 2023 and didn't update my game with the latest update until yesterday, January 19th 2023. Upon opening my newly updated game, I noticed that my home page looked off. I didn't see my usual Sim who appeared near the "Resume" button but instead a white outline shaped like a sim. I thought this was strange until I clicked resume and saw that all of my sims completely disappeared, including the townies I haven/t played. I thought this was a weird glitch so I exited the game without saving and reopened it. The same thing happened. At this point, I was annoyed but not to the point of freaking out because strangely enough, the build I created on January 5 along with the rest of my previous builds were still in the game. So I knew that my game hadn't been entirely erased. But even after searching online for a fix to this problem, none of the suggestions ended up helping me. I still have my save files in my saves folder, but the game just doesn't seem to be reading them for some reason. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a fix to this? I clearly still have my save files, I just don't know how to get the game to read them.

@Tishidiv

Do you think it's the same as this person's issue? https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-and-Mod-CC-Issues/Houseloads-deleted/m-p/12230226#M32158
