Offline Creators Wishlist

[ Edited ]
★★★★ Guide

I love to create teams/leagues/cups and more in the offline modes, and I think many of the things I list down below is more than me that would love to have it in the game.

Some of the things are probably easy to implement in the game but gives us a game that we would love even more. And some of the things would take more effort from EA to implement but would still make the NHL game even better than it is today.

More National teams (Even if there is generated players like in Japan, Ukraine...)

Slovenia - Have played in WC D1 A for 5 years now (In NHL22 after IIHF update Dec 2021)
Hungary - Have played in WC D1 A since 2017  (In NHL22 after IIHF update Dec 2021)
South Korea - WC D1 A since 2019 and last olympics  (In NHL22 after IIHF update Dec 2021)

There is a few problems with the National Teams setup in NHL games right now.

* There is doubles of the same players in the roster file.

Thats means that if you move out a player from the National team roster, there is two of the same player in the World in many cases.

* You can´t edit a player if he is only in the National Team roster.

If you want to edit the player you need to move him to a club team, edit him and then move in back to the national Team. Lots of extra work there.

* You can´t have players under the age of 18 in the National Team roster,

We all remember the Rasmus Dahlin problem in the last Olympic Games, everyone had to create a custom Rasmus Dahlin to be able to have him in the Swedish Olympic roster.

And we all know that there is always a few young upcoming stars playing in the World Championships for some nations, that we have to manually create.

And we also have to cheat the system even with a created player. - Change his age to +18, assign him to the National team, and then change his age back to under 18.

My idéa of a solution to all of this three problems is that we handel National Teams rosters the same way we handel created teams rosters.

We assign players to the team with an option like in Create a team roster, and only get copies of the players in the roster.

If we remove the player from the national team, there is no double anywhere.

And we get the option to actually edit players in the National team roster. (And yes it will change the real player in the club team he is on).

More leagues:

Slovakian Extraliga
EIHL (Great Britain)
KHL (We can all dream) and name NHL 23 to Hockey World 23 Wink

Mestis (Finnish second division)
Alphs Hockey league
USHL
NCAA

Customization (This is the big part of the wishlist and would make the game - Play - No limits) Wink

- Be able to use all logos that is already in the game (not only NHL and ECHL) when creating a team
- Be able to fully edit all players in a franchise save (change RW to LW for example)
- Be able to have arenas that is not PRO in the Franchise mode/create a club, like its in EASHL clubs in the beginning.
- Remove the limit to move an underaged player to only a CHL Team in Player Movement - Rosters. (In Europe underaged players do change teams IRL)

- Citys that are missing when creating a team or player:

Sweden: Huddinge, Kiruna, Halmstad, Karlstad, Gävle, Ängelholm, Örnsköldsvik, Kristianstad, Norrköping, Karlskoga, Uppsala, Västerås, Tingsryd, Ljungby, Västervik,

Oskarshamn, Boden, Kallinge

Finland: Rovaniemi, Joensuu, Vantaa, Forssa, Kokkola, Kajaani, Iisalmi, Imatra, Keuruu

Russia: Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Podolsk, Khanty Mansiysk, Voskresensk, Vladivostok.

Austria: Salzburg, Villach, Klagenfurt, Innsbruck, Linz, Graz

EIHL:  Belfast, Coventry, Cardiff, Dundee, Kirkcaldy, Guilford, Sheffield

Slovakia: Banska Bystrica, Kosice, Nove Zamky, Presov, Liptovsky Mikulas, Michalovce, Trencin, Nitra, Poprad, Spisska Nova Ves, Zvolen.

PolandTychy, Kraków, Katowice, Oświęcim, Nowy Targ, Sanok, Sosnowiec, Jastrzębie (JKH GKS from CHL), Toruń, Krynica, Gdańsk, Bytom

Ukraine: Kremenchuk, Kiev, Donetsk

Norway: Oslo, Lillehammer

Kazakstan: Nur-Sultan, Astana

Lituania: Vilnius, Elektrenai, Kaunas

Others: Riga (Latvia), Minsk (Belarus), Tallinn (Estonia, Ljubljana (Slovenia), Shenzhen (China), Seoul (South Korea), Anyang (South Korea), Lake Placid (NY, USA)

Playoff mode

- Be able to play just the playoffs from any of the 13 leagues in the game, not just NHL. (Like you can in season mode)
(It looks odd men Two teams from Finland wins Stanley Cup and not Liiga in playoffs mode for example)
- Be able to make a custom playoff mode - name and teams in it

Tournament mode

Be able to create a custom tournament (for example Olympics, World Cup or others) and not just Spengler Cup and Champions Hockey League
Be able to swap the teams in Spengler Cup and Champions Hockey league

Franchise Mode

- Have the opportunity to send players to their ECHL affiliate, and not just to the AHL affiliate.
- Be able to fully edit generated players in the draft (or be able to do it after the draft, change face, name, etc)
- Be able to edit the names and apperance on the generated coaches in your team (NHL + AHL)

Add - non american names to players born in Norway, Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia for the generated players in draft.

(Your friends at FIFA have a good name pool for these countries)

- Be able to set the amount of teams that will be in the Franchise mode (for example if you want to use a roster from 1995/96)

- Be able to choose the amount of games set to a season (25,50, 66 or 82 for example - regarding to how many teams there is)

Play Now Mode

- Have the opportunity to choose what arena the game will be played on. (And options to choose from every arena in the game or created in Create a team mode or the standard EASHL and CHEL arenas)

- Have the opportunity to choose if the game will be played in a outdoor rink (with those options for arena, maybe even the ones from CHEL and EASHL)

- Have the opportunity to choose the value of the game that will be played. (For example World Championship semifinal, Stanley Cup Conference Final or LIIGA Final with those logos and settings for commentators and winning ceremony)

League mode

Be able to create a custom league (be able to set number of teams, set the amount of divisions/conferences/or just have the European way with no division and conferences and if you want to have a relegation/promotion league system)

And then be able to choose freely what clubs you want to have in the mode.

Choose what kind of league Logo and name you want it to have.

I was thinking that not all of us want to play Franchise mode with 32 teams, but we still would like to play more than one season.

Because the problem with Franchise mode is that its connected with AHL (farm teams).

Arenas

Be able to change and edit the arenas for teams that have a generic arena. For example if I play with Växjö Lakers, the arena is now EA Sports Arena, Stockholm.

I should be able to edit what arena Växjö have in the game and be able to rename it to Vida Arena in Växjö (just like you can change and edit generic arenas in FIFA for those teams that dont have a licensed one in the game).

CHL (Champions Hockey League)

Be able to change the teams before you start a season, just like you can do before you start a league season in the game.

These are the ones I wish now. But if EA NHL would like to know more of these ones, be free to contact me, I would love to help creating even a better NHL game.

Wow thats an amazing list and very well worded. I agree with everything your saying.

I'm hoping for a update or patch for NHL 22 to have these, if not fingers crossed for NHL 23.

I especially don't like the playoffs and tournament mode because of the less customization and the fact that there's no injuries. During a long playoff run injuries are a huge storyline and should be included. When you start a season mode and get to the playoffs, injuries are included. But unfortunately when you start a playoff mode its not for some reason.

As far as creating players and teams we have a Discord group that has a great database for all former Alumni players.

We also make players that are in the game, but have a completely off looking faceted make them look as real as possible. There's some for Alumni that are created almost perfect sometimes.

Here's a quick video of kinda what I'm taking about.

https://youtu.be/6GKTbkBMp2E

We all hope that 1 day EA is able to fix the many wrong faces in Alumni players. We've already wrote down formulas for the many players that we created a fixed. I also have a USB full of a roster of created players that look more real than the games models.

As for creation wishlist. My main wish is to hopefully be able to create helmetless players for offline modes in NHL 22. Maybe a game update or a patch. But when your creating Alumni players its MANDORTORY that we can create players with or without helmets. Bobby Orr isn't in the game and it doesn't look or feel accurate when you have to out a helmet on him.

I remember that when NHL games was on PC, when you edit the roster with mods, there was always lots of hidden players in the database.

Players that had played in NHL/AHL before but moved. I guess there is something like that even now, because EA, removes and add players in the game in different roster updates.

I would love if that was a possibility when you edit roster in the game on consoles, to activate hidden players that is in the database since before.

I mean, there is always in free agent pool players that havent played for some years... so?

That would be very helpfull when you want to do an old roster, or update with players moved to european teams, but EA haven´t followed those leagues and missed the move and the

player is missing in roster. Or when you do KHL teams... Standard smile

Face sculpting needs to be re-added (It was last in 07) plus being able to randomize faces so game generated players can have randomized faces making way more unique looking players. EA is the same company that owns The Sims so having proper customization shouldn't be an issue in any of their games no matter which division it's made by.

@MV75 I would love that. I'm hoping with Roster Sharing someone is able to mod some rosters and download them

I'd love to see more EIHL teams in hut and not just cardiff every year. The author of the original post listed some great teams.

Great thread. Tournament mode must be brought back. I don't know why it ever went away. This year is an olympic year but if we want to play the olympic tournament in NHL 22 we can't. I used to play tournament mode with the national teams all the time on previous gen consoles. And now with alumni players included we could create awesome retro national teams and use them in a tournament, if the mode was still there.

Another thing that would be great is if we could adjust the number of teams in season mode, and/or have a custom league option in case none of the available leagues format interest us. Again, we used to have this option in previous gen, but for some reason it's now removed.

Exactly, The Olympics is around the corner, but you can´t play it on NHL 22. It was a feature that I don´t understand why they removed from the NHL series, when you at least could play a International tournament with Nations.

But yes, the best thing would be to have a custom tournament option. And even in season mode so you can play old times NHL with less than 32 teams in it.

An original six NHL season would be amazing.

But I hope someone in EA Sports NHL would understand that to make the game for offline players a great game is great customisation options.... Standard smile

Another thing is like to see is the European leagues actually “existing” in franchise mode. Like be able to check in on their standings and stats throughout the season and not just have all euro league players listed as free agents

Customization

- Citys that are missing when creating a team or player:

All Polish cities from Polish Hockey League: Tychy, Kraków, Katowice, Oświęcim, Nowy Targ, Sanok, Sosnowiec, Jastrzębie (JKH GKS from CHL), Toruń, also the rest popular hokey-town from Poland like Krynica, Gdańsk, Bytom

- Be able to upload own jersey texture (something like in Pro Evolution Soccer with Option Files) - only in Offline of course

btw

It's very cool to know that there is a large community that likes to edit game content!
