Well, I just tried repairing the game. Still had code. Then I tried removing the strings file and repairing it and now it won't start at all: I get an error box that says "Unable to start: Initialization error at startup. [135dec40:90f690cf:00000075]"

I have to sleep now, so I'll check back in the morning for news.

What language is your game in ? Was it originally in english ?

My game is in English. I've just PM'd you the files, I'll hold off reinstalling juuuuuust yet, mostly because I need to hunt down info on making backups, haha.

Hi, I tried the steps on the first page and I got the same result as Sushigal. The game would not start at all, I am now reinstalling because I have heard that may work.

My game started again once I put back the strings file I'd moved, although it was still all code.

ETA: Well, I was curious and removed the strings file again and tried to repair the game. Then I had a look in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Data\Client and the file was still missing, so it looks like the 'repair game' function doesn't actually do anything to fix a missing file.

I didn't take a pic- sorry. I also reinstalled yesterday so I'm unable to send the files.
