how do I exit a race to get back to the story mode?

i drove to starting line and started a race and now i can't get out of it. I power down n when i restart im still stuck at starting line of race. HELP???

What race is it? Just hit pause and quit race.

@XGCSith where do you go to quit a race in story mode. It only shows resume or restart
