My units were all level 8, now they are level 7.

Do you mean that unit level are downgraded in the match? I guess it is due to level cap of the league.

Bronze league cap at lv 7 so any unit higher than that will become lv 7 with maximum upgrading. Even if you are in silver league or higher, if you play against player of bronze league, it will adopt the lower level cap of the lower league among the 2 players.
