No way to race JUST my friends?

I bought this game on the hope that it would allow my friend(s) and I to race each other...exclusively. Like we could in NFS World....pick a race...invite my friend...enjoy. Not so in Payback. Sure was hoping the 'race your friend in AllDrive' would be the fix but, Nope. If we want to race there has to be up to 6 other racers. We're not likely to be the only racers on the server. I don't know about anybody else but, I'm losing interest in this game. Grinding the AI for part tokens is not what I had in mind when I forked over my money.
