Hey everyone,
We’d like to share some news with you regarding matchmaking changes we’re making in Hockey Ultimate Team™. One of the biggest pieces of feedback we’ve received is that most players are willing to wait longer to be put on their most optimal server and that the ability for players to dodge playing other users is an issue, especially in competitive modes within HUT.
Based on this feedback we’re introducing a new ‘Max Average Ping’ setting that will allow you to restrict the maximum ping used in matchmaking. This means that you can now have an option to always connect to a server you’re comfortable playing on.
Adding this functionality allows us to address another key concern which is match dodging. Currently you have the option to backout before puck drop since we weren’t assuring you’d connect to a server/ping you feel comfortable playing on. With this change, HUT Rivals and HUT Champions games will now count towards your record once a matchup with your opponent is found. Players who quit out of a game at any point after a Matchup is made and the Loading screen begins will receive a loss.
We hope this new addition helps you have a more streamlined experience while matchmaking. Please feel free to let us know your thoughts on this update and any other suggestions you may have. This update will be available in our upcoming Patch.

Does this protect players from instances where your ping can fluctuate by 50 or 60? If it matches you at 40 ping and suddenly jumps to 90, I'd rather not take the loss... I don't play HUT so whatever, but that'd sure be awful if such a feature made its way to EASHL...
The way the ame has calculated average ping is strange to say the least; I'd rather an average be calculated from start to finish as opposed to the last 20/30/40 etc. seconds
